The Derws Play Area Project
|
|
The Derws is currently trying to raise funds to provide up-to-date equipment and a youth meeting shelter for our local play area. In 2002 with the help of our local councillor Mrs. Gwen Hackworth we managed to raise over £4,000 for vandal-proof fencing around the present play area to keep children safely off the nearby road. As a result of this the council agreed to provide some new equipment for the play area. However, although the play area is owned by our local authority they are currently unable to provide funding for our latest project. The Derws Neighbourhood Watch however feels that by providing better facilities for local children and older youths fewer of them will wander around the estate causing problems for residents. Therefore we have decided to try and raise funding for an improved play area ourselves! Our proposed project will cost over £32,000 and we are desperately seeking funding. We are aproaching various charities and other organisations, but the task is not easy as we have to also find match funding. So if anyone out there has any good ideas let us know!
